List etiquette

Keep posts DARS related
We expect posts to be related to your work with DARS.

Out of office replies to the list
If you are going to be away, set your email so that it does not respond to the DARS-L listserv. If you don’t know how to do that, ask tech support on your campus.

Unsubscribing
Instructions for unsubscribing are at the bottom of every listserv message.

Off-topic posts
Our list can be very busy at times, so when posting a question or information which is not on-topic, but may have considerable interest to a portion of the group (e.g. position opening, new employee, etc.), please include the characters [OT] (meaning "off-topic") in the subject.

Replies to off-topic posts should be emailed directly to an individual – not DARS-L.

Filtering is always an option
If you are on a number of lists, you may want to set up an e-mail filter on your pc to have list posts go directly to a mail folder created specifically for that list.

Password for the list archives

Because the list is private, you will be asked to sign in with your e-mail address (the one you used to sign on to the list) and a self-selected password. Go to the LISTSERV page at www.muohio.edu/listserv and select Get a New Password.

I Don't Know My LISTSERV Password

There are several reasons an individual may not know her or his LISTSERV password.

* You may not have one yet!

Your LISTSERV password is completely unrelated to any and all other passwords at Miami University. It is not created automatically; you must create it yourself.

* You may not need to use it often or at all.

If you have not changed your subscription options or done other such functions through the web interface, you may not have needed a password. This is especially true if you subscribe, post and read messages, and unsubscribe via commands sent to LISTSERV through electronic mail.

* Your LISTSERV password is invisible to everyone.

Once created, it resides (in encrypted form) within the LISTSERV server, and cannot be accessed in any manner even by the LISTSERV server administrator. It cannot be viewed or reset; if forgotten, it must be recreated. Fortunately this is a simple process.

What do I do if I don't have a password or if I am not sure I have one?

Go to the LISTSERV page at www.muohio.edu/listserv and select Get a New Password.
