How could I use CAS if I have college credit, and would like to return to school?
If you have college credit from the past, and are considering going back to school, CAS can help you see how those courses will apply toward a program today. Review the following areas to help you plan for transfer.
Course Equivalencies
The Course Equivalenciesarea can give you a brief snapshot of how/if your past courses will transfer to the desired school(s). By selecting the school you would like to attend, you can choose the institution where you have previously taken courses to see if those courses are transferable.
My Courses
All users with an account are urged to add courses to their portfolio, called My Courses, for storage and unofficial evaluation by any participating school in CAS. You can add courses you have taken, as well as courses that you plan to take. Courses can be added manually, using a course list, or with some institutions by importing (downloading) course history.
Create Planning Guides
The Planning Guide area provides the unofficial evaluation of your courses (from My Courses) and places them in the program report so that you know where and how they APPLY to the program you want to enter.
Some schools have the ability to provide users with a Planning Guide with equivalencies, which provides information about another school's courses within the audit. Let's explore: If you're interested in the Athletic Training program from Kent State University, and have taken courses with Lakeland Community College, you can reference LCC's courses in the Kent State Planning Guide by indicating that you want Kent to provide the equivalent LCC course to those required of their Athletic Training program.
This can be used for understanding evaluations, and helping to decide if more course work can be taken elsewhere before transfer.
Student Information Links
Once you have decided to transfer your coursework to another school, you can use the Student Information Links area to find out how to have your transcript sent to the evaluating school (the one you'd like to attend).
